The study of clouds and their relationship with light has always held a fascination for me. Capturing the moment when the sun is just in the right spot to create the glow along the edges of the formation is a bit of a challenge but enormously satisfying.
I used to want to capture street scenes and complex architectural structures, but as I have matured as an artist over the years, I have come to realise that for me, the only real beauty worth immortalising on canvas is the relationship between light and nature's endless ability to create stunning views for me to paint.
After all, without light we would see nothing.
In this picture I have used traditional glazing techniques to enhance the translucency of the image.
