The Mediterranean is famous for these stunning plants. This ornamental thorny vine is extremely versatile hardy and drought tolerant. Originally native to eastern South America, it is now found all over the world.
This particular plant stands proud in the front garden of a private villa near Felanix in Mallorca overlooking a view that was just crying out to be painted. The challenge here was to portray the sense of depth in the view across the island as the sun was setting.
Once again I have used the old glazing techniques to enhance the luminosity of the colours.
