Surrounded by the Tramuntana mountains this secluded Cala of Formentor is guarded by what the locals affectionately call ''the meeting point of the wind'', a narrow 20 kilometre-long peninsular. ''The cape of Formentor'', located in the municipality of Pollenca on the north eastern side of the island, is an absolute must for 'sunset' worshippers.
Once again I was captivated by nature's incredible works of art. During my childhood, I spent many an hour drawing and painting. My work was predominantly influenced, in those early years, by the incredible talents of Herge. I travelled the world through his art enthralled by the amazing adventures of the intrepid reporter Tintin. If you look carefully you can see his influence in this painting.
When I started to plan this picture and having visited the location to take notes, I couldn't help thinking it looked a bit like Mermaid lagoon in Peter Pan's Never land.
My childhood influences are clearly displayed in this piece.
I have used the old glazing techniques to enhance the translucency.
