When the sun rises over this little paradise island it certainly does create a spectacle worth immortalising on canvas. If the atmospherics are right, an amazing blood red sky appears with the dawning sun, almost as if it was a scene from an alien world. This particular part of Mallorca's south east corner is popular with thrill seeking rock climbers because of the natural phenomena that is Es Pontas. This rocky arch standing proudly out of the water just off the coastline, was carved out by the action of the sea over hundreds of thousands of years.
In this oil on canvas, I have used old tried and tested glazing techniques to enhance the paint's translucency.
