Although I have precious little spare time these days, when I do, one of my favourite hobbies during the warm summer months in the Mediterranean is Snorkelling.
I had been given a little ''Go Pro'' waterproof camera for my birthday that year, so the obvious thing to do was to try it out snorkelling across the stunning crystal clear blue waters of 'Cala Mondrago' in Mallorca.
After an hour or so, it was time to head back to the beach, I have learned after many years snorkelling to keep an eye out for jellyfish. On this particular day there had been a storm out at sea, this usually meant that there would be a higher concentration than usual of these majestic deep water creatures.
It turned out to be my lucky day as I scanned the surface. Through the rays of sunlight piercing through the turquoise water I could make out an incredible alien like creature.
Time to put my birthday gift to work.
After some research back at home, and to my amazement, I had inadvertently stumbled across ''The Fried Egg'' jellyfish ! The resulting sketch was my attempt to capture its colours in all their glory.
I have not seen another one since .!
